about

Peter Slavov’s long overdue debut album is finally here.
Little stories is a concept album: each composition is accompanied by a short printed one-paragraph story that explains the inspiration behind the music, and the meaning of the title.
The compositions tell tales of family, literature, loss, love and life. The music was recorded by a core band enhanced on different tracks with strings, voice, acoustic guitar and bass clarinet. All the music was written and arranged by Peter Slavov and is a collection of material written over the past 20 years. The cover art was painted by acclaimed Chilean artist Maria Jose Concha and was inspired by the music.

"...an album to absolutely die for."
- Raul da Gama, JazzdaGama.com

"Portrayed in the sonic medium, this collection of deeply personal stories offers audiences a glimpse into the mind of an extraordinary musician." - Bass Magazine

"Little Stories is a great way for the listener to get a taste of Peter's beautiful music and the different elements of his versatile talent: virtuoso bassist, original composer and arranger, an inventive band leader..." - Tanya Ivanova, Jazz FM Sofia

"A compelling program which speaks volumes about one man's history and artistry"
- Dan Bilawski, All About Jazz

"...jazz with some spice and kick from a bass ace that's spent his career up to now making the best look good. Grabbing some spotlight of his own, this debut might have been a long time in the gestation stage but the wait was worth it."
- The Midwest Record

"This program, conceived and composed by Peter Slavov, soothes as much as it excites, makes one think on the stories from our own lives and how being apart from loved ones is never easy."
- Richard B Kamins, Step Tempest

" This is pure late-night-in-the- club music...Throughout Little Stories, Slavov’s playing—like his writing—is focused and forceful, in service to the music without grandstanding."
- The New York City Jazz Record
